Is Myo-Inositol Powder Safe?
The short answer is: Yes. In fact, in 2023, inositol was confirmed one of the most effective and well-tolerated natural interventions for metabolic and hormonal health, particularly for PCOS.Â
Multiple studies have noted its tolerability with minimal to no side effects. However, because every body is unique, a small percentage of women may experience mild sensitivity when first introducing it, particularly at higher doses of (12+ grams/day). These may include:Â
- Nausea or a "fluttery" stomach
- Mild digestive discomfort or bloating
- Headaches or occasional dizziness
Although rare, some women are more sensitive to metabolic shifts. Based on studies of pregnant women, to support a healthy conception, the most researched approach is a daily dose between 0.5 to 4 grams. Using a 40 to 1 ratio of Myo to D-Chiro inositol is ideal because it mirrors the body’s natural balance to support egg quality and regular ovulation.
For those focused on pregnancy support and the prevention of Gestational Diabetes, the science points toward 4 grams of Myo-inositol daily. In one study involving pregnant women with elevated fasting glucose supplementation resulted in a very significant reduction in gestational diabetes to 6% vs. 71% in the control group.
